AEG Live President Randy Phillips testified at Conrad Murray's manslaughter trial today. Check out the highlights:

* Phillips said the demand for tickets was nothing he's ever seen before in his life. So Phillips called Jackson to see if they could add more shows.
* Jackson agreed under 2 conditions... #1 -- he wanted a 16-acre country estate outside of London with streaming rivers and horses for the kids... and #2 -- that Phillips made sure MJ made it into "The Guinness Book of World Records" as the artist with the highest number of shows at the famous O2 Arena (Prince currently holds the record with 21 shows).
* Randy's testimony could prove Michael Jackson was under extreme pressure to perform at the time of his death -- which eventually pushed the singer over the edge.
* When Phillip sheard Jackson wanted his own personal doctor to accompany him on the tour, he tried to convince Jackson to get someone in London, but MJ insisted on bringing his own doctor with him.
* Phillips said in June 2009, tour director Kenny Ortega told him MJ wasn't focused and was missing rehearsals.
* Phillips then got a call from MJ's manager, Frank DiLeo, asking for a meeting to discuss MJ's health.
* Phillips said during the meeting -- held on June 20th -- MJ assured him he was ready ...saying, "You build the home, and I'll put the door on it and paint it."
* Phillips asked Murray after the meeting if he was aware that Jackson was seeing Dr. Klein. He said Murray told him he'd "look into it."
* Phillips told prosecutors he thought MJ had great trust in Murray.
* He said he never felt at any time MJ was not ready for the shows.
* Chernoff asked Phillips if Jackson would have been responsible for the tour costs had the shows been canceled. Phillips said yes. But when Chernoff tried to ask how much, he was stopped by the judge. Earlier during the day the Judge ruled the contract between MJ and AEG Live would not be admissible in court saying "This is not a contractual dispute .. this is a homicide case."

Apple Launching iTunes Movie Offerings in Over a Dozen New Countries

Late last month, Apple launched the iTunes Music Store in 12 new European countries, with the updated terms and conditions for users in those countries also addressing movie and TV show content despite those options not being made available in the new countries.

It now appears that Apple has begun rolling out iTunes Store movie content in a number of these and other countries, marking yet another substantial international expansion to Apple's content catalog.

Based on reports from readers and an examination of the iTunes Store, it appears that movies are now available in Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, and Slovakia, and Slovenia â€" all countries that had been included in the latest round of music store expansion. Curiously, the Romanian iTunes Store appears to be the only one of the twelve recent music additions to have not yet received movie content.

Earlier this week we also received a couple of reports of movies becoming available in Greece and Portugal, two countries that have had music store access since 2004, suggesting that the movie expansion may be even broader.

As has been in the case with other similar content expansions, Apple has not yet launched dedicated navigation bar tabs in iTunes for movies in the new countries, but the content is showing up in search results.

One other batch of new European markets for iTunes Store movie content went live in late September, with the Apple TV launching in those countries soon after. Consequently, customers in countries where movie content is launching this week may also be seeing the Apple TV debut in the near future.

In 2002 when Apple started iTunes store and iTunes for Window, iPod slowly began to be accepted. By June 2003, Apple sold 1million iPods. By the end of 2004, the number became 10 million, which is still a tiny number compared to the 297 million worldwide as of December 2010.

The noontide of the sales started from 2004 and ever since iPod has dominated the digital music player sales in the United States, with the iPod accounting for over 90% of the market for hard drive-based players and over 70% of the market for all types of players. Between January 2004 and January 2005, the high rate of sales of iPod caused its U.S. market share to increase from 31% to 65% and in July 2005, this market share increased to 74%. In January 2007 the iPod market share reached 72.7% according to Bloomberg Online.

Nowadays, however, sales of iPod have slowed down. This is mostly because more and more users carry music on their smartphones. And why not? After all, all smartphones offer audio play and large storage capacity.

In the fourth quarter of 2010, iPod sales accounted for only 8 percent of Apple’s revenue and despite iPod turning 10, it is possible that Apple may phase out its production. Hence the billion dollar question - Is the revolutionary MP3 player dying?

This quarter Apple sold 6.62 million iPods, a 27 percent decline from the year-ago quarter.

According to venturebeat.com, iPod may be slowing dying, as people do not need to update those units each year or they simply use their iPhones /other smartphones to listen to music.

Live Nation will discuss concerts in N.F.

Concert promoter Live Nation has agreed to meet with Niagara Falls city leaders next month to talk about having a larger presence in the Cataract City.

The meeting, set for Nov. 17, was arranged by Sen. Charles Schumer who had lobbied Live Nation’s top brass about bringing more concerts to Niagara Falls. Schumer noted this past summer’s free concert series along Old Falls Street, presented by the Hard Rock Cafe, drew more than 60,000 music fans.

Schumer would like to see Live Nation present a major concert in Niagara Falls, preferably along the Old Falls Street corridor between Third Street and Niagara Falls State Park where Empire State Development Corp. invested $12 million to revamp the three block stretch.

A major, marquee concert could be a huge economic windfall for the city, Schumer said.

“This is an exciting first step to bring Live Nation’s world-class shows to Niagara Falls, something that would generate excitement, crowds and significant economic activity for the area,” said Schumer. “These concerts would enable Niagara Falls to capitalize on its existing tourism base, attracting thousands of new visitors who will provide a much-needed shot in the arm for our local economy.”

Among those participating in the meeting will be Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster as well top Live Nation representatives and officials from USA Niagara Development Corp., the local arm of Empire State Development Corp.

“Niagara Falls would be the perfect place for a Live Nation concert, and I look forward to making the case,” Dyster said. Live Nation could be a huge boost to our economy, and bolster our reputation as a tourist-friendly city.”

Live Nation has a significant presence in the Buffalo Niagara region. The promoter operates the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center and brings concerts to First Niagara Center as well as smaller, local clubs and other venues.
